All the changes
A small arts organisation is like a little boat. There's enormous flexibility and capacity to seize opportunities. The larger institutions glide by like ocean liners heading off on a pre-established course. But then, being a small craft leaves an organisation vulnerable to the big wave or storm that appears suddenly. There's been some 'spring fever' around Craft Victoria. We've had a number of staff moving on at once, part natural turnover and part opportunity. It's a talented crew at Craft Victoria, and clearly envied by captains of the big ships. At the same time, those remaining have been struck by a particularly intractable flu that is being generously passed around. But as a man called Einstein said, "In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity." Craft Victoria is gaining a new image, thanks to a terrific partnership with ERD. There are big overseas events coming up in New Zealand and Korea. And we have international visitors coming, including American collectors and Tanya Harrod. You've got to think this is a great chance overhaul the sails and build a stronger boat for the future. Stay tuned.
