Naomi Ota telling stories
Naomi Ota entertains a group of students with stories of 'Utaki', the groves made from coral on the island of Takatomi that inspired her exhibition at Craft Victoria. Meanwhile, at the National Gallery of Victoria, Gwyn Hanssen Pigott was speaking to an equally wrapt audience about the evolution of her work. In conversation with Tanya Harrod, she spoke about the arduous bike ride up the hill at St Ives to meet Bernard Leach, the Morandi revelation and the desire for owners of her ensembles to actually use the works. Spring in Melbourne witnesses an intense interest in the adventure of making.
