There was a great atmosphere in the Lower Melbourne Town Hall last night as guests enjoyed the work on display from the Flinders Quarter Handmade to Wear Award. Kate Rhodes and Alison Leach brought a very interesting context to the award. Like bubble-wrap popping, the evening was accompanied by the sound of stiletto heels piercing the cardboard used as flooring in the installation. The works were laid low on special wooden slats, enabling a closer inspection of fine handiwork. Judges included SBS's Lee Lynn Chin. And the winners were:
- Student Designer - Fashion and Textiles: Oliver Wilkinson (entry no. 19)
- Student Designer - Textile Accessories: Rhiannon Smith (entry no. 43)
- Emerging Designer - Fashion and Textiles: Ellie Mucke (entry no. 61)
- Emerging Designer - Textile Accessories: Wendy Voon (entry no. 27)
Jo Lawson (entry no. 8), Adam Tsen (entry no. 36), Autumn Daly-Holt (entry no. 65), Dearne Herrenberg (entry no. 50), Belinda Crossley (entry no. 26), Lucinda Pottage (entries 52 and 37).
