Dylan Martorell Performance

On a Saturday afternoon, the CBD in Melbourne can seem like a very empty place. Last Saturday, the crowds were all hidden away, downstairs at Craft Victoria watching a performance lead by Dylan Martorell.

Coinciding with the last week of his Umbel Ballits exhibition (which finishes tomorrow), Dylan was joined by fellow sound artists Nathan Gray, Julie and Francis in a performance of 3 pieces: 2 from the scores appearing in the exhibition and a final piece with Nathan Gray utlising the hand-made instruments from the show.

The craft of hand-making tools and technology produced quite an amazing outcome, with an intense and atmospheric sound filling out the gallery space. And the appreciative crowd stuck around long after the performance had finished, giving the gallery space a friendly and cosy atmosphere on a winter's afternoon.
