Applications are invited for Craft Victoria's 2008 Emerging Artist Initiative. This three-month mentorship project is worth $9,000 and provides an emerging craftsperson or designer the opportunity to undertake further research and development relevant to their practice. We encourage you to discuss your application with us before the deadline of Friday 27 June.
Julie Monro-Allison, the 2007 recipient, will undertake a week-long residency at Craft Victoria as part of A Month About Making in August. We can't wait to see her transform scraps of materials and bones into small sculptural pieces in Gallery 3.
And our 2006 mentee, Ellie Mücke, is about to launch a window exhibition of her sustainable label MüCKE at Pussycat Black. Ellie's clothing designs are created from recycled garments which have been de and re-constructed. This unique installation will display the inner detail and intricate construction techniques used by the designer. Join Ellie for opening night drinks this Friday 6-8pm.
