The Craft Hatch love keeps pouring in!

In a recent edition of the Leader newspaper is this fantastic article featuring Emily Green's equally fantastic brooches. Thank you Suzanne for the lovely write up! To read it, please click the image to enlarge it for reading ease.

If you'd like to see more of Emily, she'll be at the next Craft Hatch x Bikefest market on Sun 28 Nov at 1000 Pound Bend. It's a special bicycle-themed market to coincide with Bikefest, a fancy new festival that celebrates the bicycle.

I'm concerned about this view that 'craft is cheap' and that items are 'inexpensive' or the 'lets goto a market for a cheap option' etc. Often a hand crafted piece should be worth more than a mass produced item and yet, i'm saddened by the views presented in this article.
Also the 'it's cheap to DIY crafty approach' that is constantly banged on about by Meet Me At Mikes. It's time for a bit of a re-evaluation of this trend.
And as far as saying that the middle man is removed, all fine to say, but their should be parity in pricing, and its the so called middle men or store owners that are supporting these designers outside of the market environment. We need to remember the middle man is also trying to make a living
