Nothing screams Christmas Party quite like a ping pong tournament on
an artist designed tennis table, with some bevvies and nibbles in an Art
Gallery. It’s the
Westspace Christmas Party and whilst we can pretend
it’s all about celebrating this festive season, everyone really knows
it’s all about the pong.
Laith McGregor exposed himself as he mapped his
thoughts on paper to make up the artwork that acts as the base of the table. This is not an elitist artwork bound by ropes for
people to view at a distance, stare at for hours with mysterious eyes,
whilst scholarly mumble jumble is thrown about. The piece is explorative, interactive and accessible, as
visitors are welcomed to engage as they pop bat to hand ready for
battle. The supporting wall of blackboard paint re-iterates this
communal process, as people write, mark and doodle freely with chalk.

The nitty gritty: The
party will happen from 5-8pm down at
Westspace Gallery, Level 1, 225 Bourke Street Melbourne.The evening will even feature an
exclusive Christmas special in the form of an Andrew Sinclair and Scott
Mitchell installation piece. But most importantly... The table tennis tournament will commence at
5.30pm. But remember, you must REGISTER by 5pm!
