Vale Kraft Victoria

Vale Kraft Victoria

One of the hazards in identifying your workplace as ‘Craft Victoria’ is that people think you make cheese. Like Arnott’s biscuits, Kraft cheese (and vegemite) was one of the idiomatic features of the Australian pantry. Unfortunately, both companies were bought out by overseas interests. Now workers at Kraft Victoria have been sacked and their jobs exported to China. The way globalisation can slash and burn local culture is one of the reasons why ‘craft with a c’ exists. Think global, but make local.
