Filippo Raphael Fresh! Award 2008

Fresh! 2008 invite featuring Valissa Butterworth's Paddy Melons (2008)

Presented annually since 1993, Fresh! continues to showcase the energy and passion of graduating students from craft and design disciplines throughout the state. Now in its fifteenth year, the Filippo Raphael Fresh! Award has launched the careers of some of Melbourne’s best known practitioners and continues to be one of the most respected forecasters of emerging craft and design within Australia.

Each year a team of invited professionals preview graduate exhibitions in over 35 departments within Tertiary and TAFE institutions across Victoria. The freshest works are hand-picked from the fields of ceramics, glass, jewellery, gold & silver-smithing, fashion, textiles, industrial and furniture design.

Alongside the major $5,000 Filippo Raphael Fresh! Award, Craft Victoria presents a number of categoryawards. 2008 prizes include the Third Drawer Down Product Development Award, the Screaming Pixel Professional Photography Portfolio Award and the Sofitel Melbourne / Global Art Projects Exhibition in a Public Space Award.

This year, Fresh! features the work of: Aly Aitken, Alyshia Boddenberg, Amanda McKenzie, Chloe McColl, Crystal Dunn, Kate Vivian, Li Ka Ho, Robert Dumaresq, Sarah Deed, Stephanie Martin, Timothy Smullen, Tobi Clark and Valissa Butterworth.

Opening this Thursday evening at 6pm, do come down and join the Craft Victoria team and your fellow merrymakers as we celebrate the end of another wonderful year. Our last exhibition for 2008, Fresh! promises that we'll finish the year with a bang!
