I'll Show You My Craft If You Show Me Yours (Dylan Martorell & Sunday Morning Designs)

Currently in Gallery 3 and in enCOUNTER are the first duo in I'll Show You My Craft If You Show Me Yours. Comprising of artist/musician/illustrator/sonic gardener Dylan Martorell and accessories/textiles/clothing label Sunday Morning Designs, this collaboration can be described as guerilla garden/shelter/sustainably-designed loungeroom, complete with homely furnishings like cushions and lamps to set the mood.

I'll Show You My Craft If You Show Me Yours is all about the slashes, it being a program designed to bring together two makers working in decidedly different fields. In this instance, Dylan has constructed a garden in the confines of Gallery 3 where he is currently growing a variety of edible mushrooms in a prototype multipurpose portable shelter made from market bags and tarpaulins patched together by Sunday Morning Designs.

There's portobello, shiitake, button, and oyster mushrooms, along with other assorted fungi and water plants, sprouting forth at the moment to a hynoptic soundtrack of field recordings and ambient lighting. One visitor mentioned it smelt like Bunnings... and it kind of does...

To catch the growth in action, make your way down to CVHQ from now till 22 August. You can also view more growth action in our 24/7 window display enCOUNTER where Dylan and SMD are growing more mushrooms and a potato plant.

In the meantime, here are some images of the installation as of last week.
