Competition: Bears, Boomerangs, Bathers and Booze

Suzie Stanford, Tea Towel Chair, via duo

It is a well known fact than when it comes to souvenirs,
no country puts out their best in design. Now, artists and makers from around Australia have the chance to turn this all around, transforming the iconic surfer or kangaroo or even surfing kangaroo on a shot glass into something a tad less corny and a a little more kitsch. Lord Coconut invites jewellers, designers and artists to apply to be a part of this Australia Day Exhibition, Bears, Boomerangs, Bathers and Booze – Kitsch Australiana. The exhibition will run through January and February of 2012, but applications close somewhat nearer to our current date. Think you’ve got that perfect Australian icon in your head
– then fill out this form and send it through by no later than this FRIDAY 9 DECEMBER. More about the exhibition, application requirements and the overall project here.
