Emily Green 'Polygramatic' - ends this Saturday!
On until Saturday in our enCOUNTER window space is Emily Green's hyper colourful Polygramatic exhibition. The installation features large-scale collages modelled upon Emily's signature brooches and are very (very) reasonally priced at $110 each!
Polygramatic is an installation of large-scale clashing and colourful collaged geometric forms. The series of wall pieces are explorations of colour, organic texture and pattern contained within fractured geometric forms. A limited edition wearable range of these pieces will accompany the installation in the Craft Victoria shop.
Through observations of organic textures and forms and congruous colour palettes, Emily Green's jewellery designs reflect her love of colour and the aesthetic of Melbourne's inner north. Emily is originally from Perth and studied a Bachelor of Fine Arts at The University of Western Australia. She is currently studying Textile Design part-time at RMIT. Emily's current range includes geometric brooches and pendants as well as colourful organic polymer clay necklaces.

Hands on Heads workshop: JUMPER
The first Hands on Heads workshop happened on Wednesday - it was really fun! Here are some images from the day :-)
The next workshop is CHAIR, which happens tomorrow from 12-4pm. So if you've realised how much crazy-bananas-fun the Jumper workshop was and you'd REALLY like to attend the Chair workshop, just give us a call on 9650 7775 so that we get a 'heads' up.
Otherwise the next two workshops after that are PEN on Wednesday and BREAD on Thursday. These workshops are free and run from 12-4pm at Craft Victoria. Call us on 9650 7775 to make a booking for yourself (and maybe for a friend or two!) If you get our answering machine, please make sure you leave either your number of email address so that we can get in touch with you on Monday.

Click here for the full list of Open Studio artists, and here for the Trade Studio artists.
Our contribution to Design:Made:Trade is looking super hot, so make sure you pick up a free double pass from Craft Victoria (entry is usually $10) when you make your way there this weekend.

Nicholas Jones in 'Book Art'
For centuries books have contained and presented the written words that have allowed humankind to study and interpret the world. As texts have become readily available through different media, contemporary artists have been increasingly exploring the interplay between the function, structure, and format of books. Book Art is a stunning documentation of current art, installation, and design created with and from books. The fascinating range of examples, which is as diverse as books themselves, offers eloquent proof that—despite or because of digital media’s inroads as sources of text information—the book’s legacy as a carrier of ideas and communication is being expanded today.
Here are some scans from the book... what lovely work you've made Mr Jones!
To watch Nicholas in action, make sure you visit our Open Studios stand at Design Made Trade this weekend where Nicholas will be busy working away.
Click here to read more about our Open Studios program (which features other artists/designers like PRIMOEZA, Odds&endS, Leah Jackson, Emily Green, Kirsten Perry and more!)
Tickets to DMT are $10, but if you drop by Craft Victoria we'll give you a pass for free :-)
PS, Nicholas was also featured in last night's Made by Hand, click here to view his segment.
