The Small Scale

As part of their exhibition Scale Practice which ended not to long ago, artists Meredith Turnbull and Bridie Lunney were invited by Craft Victoria to host a workshop at ArtPlay. The Small Scale gave ten young budding jewellers the opportunity to sculpt a small keepsake from wax, have it cast in silver thanks to Meredith and Bridie, and then sand and polish it to perfection.

The Small Scale was held over two Saturday's - 20 November and 4 December. Here are some photos from the day!

ArtPlay x Michael Doolan workshop, Sat 11 Sept

In addition to Craft Hatch, last Saturday was a busy, busy time for us with Michael Doolan's Imaginary Animals ArtPlay workshop taking place just up the road at ArtPlay on Birrarung Marr.

Using clay (and their vivid imaginations), the kids created a slew of hybrid mythical creatures. This workshop is part of a collaboration between Craft Victoria and ArtPlay to introduce Craft Victoria artists to the young 'uns through fun, interactive workshops. Imaginary Animals with Michael Doolan is the third workshop of the year, with the final workshop to be facilitated by jewellers Meredith Turnbull & Bridie Lunney. Stay tuned for more info!

A peek at The Play Team

A while ago we told you about The Play Team (part of our Craft Cubed festival program), a short series of workshops hosted by Ben Landau and Alex Desebrock that set out to 'solve everyday problems creatively'.

It has since been and gone (sad face), but on the plus side here's a whole bunch of fantastic photos by Ben Fon documenting it!

'The Play Team' workshops start this evening!

Newsflash! The Play Team starts this evening at 5.30pm at ArtPlay (Birrarung Marr). For $5 a pop, you can tap into your inner kiddy-wink by crafting a 'toy' with Ben Landau & Alex Desebrock, the dynamic duo otherwise known as 'The Play Team'! (not to be confused with The A Team, but they certainly are an ace pair)

The Play Team is happening tonight, Thursday and Friday (1, 2, 3 September) from 5.30pm to 7pm.

So scrap that after-work pilates/yogalates/no lights no lycra workshop and make your way to THE PLAY TEAM!
